![]() Our Assessment: This International Harvester Corporation (IHC) M1 Garand is built on a Rare “Gap Letter” receiver made by Springfield Armory. Springfield Armory provided receivers to International Harvester beginning in 1952 to help increase M1 Garand production at IHC. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards. The metal shows scuffs, small scrapes & light handling marks. Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.īore Condition: The bore is bright semi bright at the muzzle. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Most of these marks have been oiled over. Many have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches and compression marks. The top rear of the butt is missing a piece of edge wood at the buttplate. ![]() The front handguard shows repairs at the front & rear. The refinished buttplate has several small scratches showing through the finish. The three piece hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nosecaps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged metal door for storage in the butt. The face of the grip is marked with a “circled P” proof. Stock Configuration & Condition: The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked with a Defense “Eagle” Acceptance stamp. The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of 2 and “IHC” next to “W in a hexagon”. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice and “IHC DRC”. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The stock and sights are described below.
